About the stone
Smoky quartz is the brown-to-grey-to-black variety of quartz, its colour developing from natural radiation acting on trace aluminum within the crystal over geological time. Found in granite regions worldwide — Brazil, Madagascar, Switzerland, and the Scottish Highlands all produce notable specimens.
In crystal tradition
In crystal tradition, smoky quartz is associated with the root chakra and is long-valued as a grounding and protection stone — believed to support steadiness, transmutation of unwanted energy, and a clear connection to the body. Often carried as a touchstone for grounding, or used in crystal grids alongside more activating stones.
Each piece is one of a kind. Natural variations in colour, shape, size, and pattern are part of what makes the stone what it is — the photograph shows a representative example, your piece will look slightly different.
