Traditional uses
Reishi has been used in Chinese herbal medicine for over two thousand years and appears in some of the earliest Chinese herbal texts. Traditionally valued as a Shen tonic — a herb for the spirit and the calm, sustained mind — and as a deeply restorative adaptogen. The Chinese name Lingzhi roughly translates as 'spirit mushroom.'
Suggested use
Simmer 1-2 slices in 4 cups of water for 1-2 hours, ideally with a slice of fresh ginger and a strip of orange peel. Strain and drink the decoction warm. Can be re-simmered. Reishi has a bitter, woody flavour — sweeten lightly if desired.
