Ingredients
- Dried oyster mushroom powder (grown by Heartwood Mushrooms on the Canadian Great Lakes)
- Pink salt
- Garlic powder
- Paprika
- Onion
- Black pepper
- Thyme
Suggested use
Sprinkle generously on chicken, beef, vegetables, tofu, or anywhere you want a savoury, herbal lift. Air-fry at 400°F for 10-15 minutes, or sauté with a drizzle of oil for 5-7 minutes. Excellent on roasted root vegetables, scrambled eggs, or stirred into soups and sauces.
About the mushroom umami
Oyster mushrooms are naturally rich in glutamates — the same compounds that give MSG its savoury punch and Parmesan cheese its complexity. Drying and powdering them concentrates that umami character into a clean, all-natural seasoning.
About the maker
Founded in 2016 by Shane O'Donnell on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Heartwood Mushrooms grows specialty mushrooms beyond the supermarket button — varieties Shane discovered late in life and became obsessed with for their flavour and depth. The farm focuses on sustainable cultivation and educational outreach, sharing recipes and a free mycology community alongside their fresh mushrooms and seasoning blends.
