Traditional uses
Mullein has been used in herbal traditions across Europe and North America for centuries. Traditionally valued as a respiratory herb — long-used as a tea, smoke, or steam for coughs, hoarseness, and clearing the lungs. Also used topically as a poultice to soothe irritated skin and minor wounds.
Suggested use
Brew 1 tsp per cup with freshly boiled water. Steep covered for 10 minutes, then strain through a fine cloth or coffee filter to remove the fine fuzzy hairs from the leaves (which can otherwise irritate the throat). Can be combined with thyme or lemon balm.
Care & safety
Strain well to remove fine leaf hairs. Avoid in pregnancy unless advised by a qualified herbalist.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry, dark place in a sealed container.
