About the beads

Rudraksha beads — the seeds of the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree — have been used for thousands of years across Hindu and Buddhist traditions for prayer and meditation, traditionally associated with supporting concentration and calm of mind during practice. Sandalwood and Red Sandalwood malas carry the warm, grounding fragrance of the wood itself, which gently releases as the beads are worked through the hand.

How a mala is used

A traditional mala has 108 beads plus a guru bead. The wearer moves through the strand bead by bead with the thumb, holding a mantra or breath with each one, completing a full circuit before reaching the guru bead and turning the mala to begin again.
