Traditional uses
Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) has been used for hundreds of years by the Khoi and San peoples of southern Africa. Traditionally, the plant was fermented and chewed for mood elevation, social ease, and sustained energy through long days of walking and hunting. Kanna's primary active compounds — the alkaloids mesembrine, mesembrenone, and Δ7-mesembrenone — have been the subject of contemporary scientific research.
Suggested use
Place one drop under the tongue and hold for 30-60 seconds before swallowing. One drop = approximately 25mg of Kanna extract. Wait at least 30 minutes before considering another drop. Best in the morning or early afternoon.
Dose
One drop = ~25mg. Do not exceed two drops per day for a beginner.
About Kanna
Kanna belongs to a distinct category of plants — neither psychedelic nor a typical caffeine-style stimulant. The South African plant tradition uses kanna for mood support and emotional ease in everyday life. Modern research has begun to explore the alkaloid profile in detail. The maker's products are third-party lab tested for purity and potency, and ethically sourced from the Western Cape, South Africa.
About the maker
A Canadian family-owned business founded by mother-daughter duo Hana and Lana Pribic. Hana — a lifelong advocate of natural remedies who emigrated from former Yugoslavia to Canada in 1995 — turned to Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) after cancer treatment to ease lifelong anxiety, finding profound relief. Her daughter Lana, an ICF Professional Life Coach and host of the Modern Psychedelics Podcast, joined her to bring nutraceutical-grade Kanna extracts to Canada. Sourced ethically from the Western Cape of South Africa, formulated and housed in Toronto.
