Inukshuk Soapstone Carving(pronounced ‘in-ook-shook’) translates to “likeness of a person” or “in the image of man” in the Inuit language Inuktitut.

These stone structures are a well-known symbol in the Canadian North. Inukshuks are formed from rock piles that resemble the shape of a person with arms stretching out.

The original purposes of Inukshuks are to landmark directions of the paths of animals for hunting, directions to communities and where caches of food are for travellers were stored.
