About the stone
Hematite is iron oxide — a major iron ore that has been used since ancient times. The metallic-silver lustre when polished gives it the dramatic look that has made it popular for jewelry. The 'magnetic hematite' commonly sold today is in fact a synthetic ferrite material that has been magnetized — natural hematite is only weakly magnetic. The trade name persists despite the technical inaccuracy.
In crystal tradition
In crystal tradition, hematite is associated with the root chakra and is long-valued as a grounding and protective stone. The 'magnetic hematite' format is a modern creation and is sometimes used in pairs as small touchstones for the practice. Treat as a crystal-practice item rather than a technical magnetic device.
Each piece is one of a kind. Natural variations in colour, shape, size, and pattern are part of what makes the stone what it is — the photograph shows a representative example, your piece will look slightly different.
