History
Eucalyptus oils have been used by Aboriginal peoples of Australia for thousands of years for their fresh, clarifying aromatic properties. Blue Mallee is one of the highest-cineole varieties, making it a particularly potent representative of the eucalyptus family in aromatherapy.
Main constituents
1,8-cineole (very high — typically 85%+), α-pinene, limonene
How to use
Add a few drops to an aromatherapy diffuser, or 1-2 drops on a tissue or cotton ball for personal inhalation. For topical use, dilute to 1-3% in a carrier oil (jojoba, fractionated coconut, or sweet almond) — about 2-9 drops per 30ml. Patch test inside the elbow before broader application. Especially good in shower steam — a few drops on the floor of a hot shower releases an instant aromatic steam.
Safety
External use only. Always dilute before applying to skin. Patch test before first use. Avoid during pregnancy unless guided by a qualified aromatherapist. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Avoid use on or near the face of children under 6.
Storage
Store sealed in a cool, dark place. Most essential oils keep 1-3 years; citrus oils oxidize faster — best within 12 months.
