Traditional uses
Xocolatl is one of the original recipes for chocolate. The Aztecs prepared this beverage by grinding cacao seeds with water and chili peppers — heart-opening, warming, traditionally drunk in ceremony and as a daily energy drink. The Spanish later sweetened the recipe; xocolatl is the original.
Suggested use
Whisk 1-2 tablespoons into hot water — sweeten with maple syrup, honey, or coconut sugar to taste, or drink unsweetened in the original style. The spicy heat unfolds slowly. Excellent for cool mornings, before meditation, or in cacao ceremony.
