About the artist

Carolyn Quan

Toronto-raised visionary photographic artist whose career began in commercial design and photography at OCAD before two decades as a music-industry art director in New York — designing album covers for Aretha Franklin, the Grateful Dead, INXS, KISS, Sarah Brightman, and Placido Domingo, among others, and earning four gold records. After the events of 9/11, she moved into fine art full-time. Alongside her photo collage work, she creates mixed-media art lights — using glass as canvas, layering resin, ink, gemstones, and found objects into illuminated sculptures. Her broader work has been recognized with nineteen American Art Awards, an Award of Merit at the La Quinta Arts Festival, and inclusion in the permanent collection of the Kinsey Institute. She is currently based in the American Southwest.
