Apophyllite is a hydrated potassium calcium silicate — found primarily in the volcanic rock cavities of India's Deccan Traps formation, where it grows in distinctive pyramidal crystal clusters often paired with green stilbite or other zeolites. The name comes from Greek meaning 'to flake apart,' referring to its characteristic exfoliation when heated.
