Traditional uses

Cayenne has been used in herbal practice across the Americas, Africa, and Asia for centuries. Traditionally valued in Western folk herbalism as a warming circulatory herb — long-included in cold-and-flu home remedies, used as a topical poultice for traditional wound care, and as a digestive stimulant. The capsaicin compounds give cayenne both its heat and its traditional therapeutic profile.

Suggested use

Take one dropperful in a small glass of water as needed during cold-and-flu season — chase with more water as the heat unfolds. Some Western herbalists keep cayenne tincture as a first-aid kit staple alongside their other tinctures.

Those on blood-thinning, blood-pressure, or diabetes medication should consult a healthcare provider before regular use. Not recommended for children.
