About the stone
Shungite is a black, lustrous mineraloid composed of more than 98% carbon. Found primarily near the village of Shunga in Karelia, Russia — from which it takes its name. The stone has been the subject of scientific interest for its unusual molecular structure, including documented trace amounts of fullerenes. Petrovsky shungite is one of the recognized grades, falling between Elite (Type I) and regular shungite.
In crystal tradition
In crystal tradition, shungite is associated with the root chakra and is long-valued as a grounding and protection stone. Often worn or carried as a touchstone for grounding, kept near workspaces and electronic devices, or used in crystal grids for protective intention.
