About the stone
Tigers eye is a chatoyant variety of quartz — a stone whose silky parallel fibres reflect light to create the shifting golden 'eye' that gives it its name. The fibres are pseudomorphs, originally crocidolite (a form of asbestos) that has been replaced by silica over geological time, preserving the fibrous structure while becoming inert quartz. South Africa is the largest source. Red tigers eye is the same stone as golden tigers eye but with the red colour developed through natural or low-temperature heating that shifts the iron oxide content.
In crystal tradition
In crystal tradition, red tigers eye is associated with the root chakra and the activating, vital qualities — long-valued as a stone of vitality, motivation, and grounded passion. Used as a touchstone during periods requiring energetic follow-through.
Each piece is one of a kind. Natural variations in colour, shape, size, and pattern are part of what makes the stone what it is — the photograph shows a representative example, your piece will look slightly different.
