About the stone

Calcite is calcium carbonate — the same mineral that forms limestone, marble, and seashells. It crystallizes in many varieties and colours, ranging from the optically clear (Iceland Spar) to vivid blues, oranges, greens, and pinks depending on trace minerals. Dogtooth calcite gets its name from the elongated, sharply pointed crystal habit that resembles a row of canine teeth.
