Psyllium Husks

•  An annual herb that grows numerous small white flowers with seeds enclosed in capsules that open at maturity. Psyllium husks are the coats of the psyllium seed.
• The milled husks contain more dietary fibre than the seeds themselves and are used as a home remedy for treating and relieving gastrointestinal troubles.
• As a mixture of soluble and insoluble fibre, psyllium husks are a natural, gentle remedy for constipation, diarrhea, and digestive discomfort. Have been used for promoting weight loss and for maintaining a healthy glycemic balance in the body.

Suggested Use: Psyllium husks have a mild flavour and can be added to foods, though it should be noted that they absorb liquids due to high fibre and mucilage content. They are commonly taken as a tea or mixed with water or juice. It is important to drink sufficient water when taking psyllium husks as they absorb fluid in the body.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container.
