  • Native to India. Basil is part of the mint family.
  • Basil has a strong, sweet, aroma and flavor, sometimes compared to anise or mint.
  • Most recognized for its role in Italian cuisine, as well as in Southeast Asian dishes.
  • The dried leaves have a much more mild flavor than the fresh.  
Suggested Use: The dried herb can be used liberally in many recipes, like pastas, meat dishes, soups and sauces such as constituting the main ingredient in pesto sauce. 

Storage: Store in a cool, dark, dry place in a sealed container.
